Cast Netting James Island

How goes it everybody.Just looking for a tip if anybody is willing to help! Does anyone know of a spot to cast net on James/Johns Island from shore where I wont get the net stuck every throw? Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks,Matt

The fishing dock at James Island County Park isn’t bad. There is Demetre Park at the end of Ft Johnson. IF you went to Folly and walked to the lighthouse that inlet is PACKED with bait from the shoreline. Just watch the tides and don’t get hung up on the ledge.

Demetre Park next to the JI Yacht Club.

Appreciate the responses. As far as walking to the end of folly are you talking about down that sand path from the roundabout area? Also what kind of bait in there? Thanks again,Matt.

Say more about the folly inlet if you would? I know the path that leads you down to the last jetty, once you get there just hop over the Jetty and throw from the beach? What kinda bait usually schools in that area? Thank you!

Mullet mostly, seems like a heck of a lot of trouble to go all the way down to the end of Folly Island and fight the traffic and crowds it takes to get there just to cast for some bait. So many other places you can get the same thing. On the way out to Folly just pull on the side of the road at multiple spots and you can cast for bait, will save you an additional hour of time it would take to get you to the end of Folly. For a public place with a large pier, Demetre Park cant be beat, can catch everything there is to catch off that pier there with a castnet.

Thanks for the reply, I live on folly so any new info about the beach is gold to me. I’ll check out sunrise park as well. Thank you!
