Casting Lessons

OK, I have to admit it, my fly-casting is pathetic:frowning_face:. It was good enough for small flies on small streams out west, but I just can’t get a big saltwater fly through the wind. It’s time to face reality and get a lesson. Charleston Angler offers fly fishing classes but I am looking for some one on one instruction on casting. I plan on stopping by the shop to ask, but I thought I would post it here and see if anyone knew of anyone offering fly-casting instruction.
Thanks,
SeaLevelPete

Ill give ya a hand im no certified instructor but ive helped several ppl get it right.

Jeremy

That’s very generous of you Jeremy, thanks! I’d be happy to take you up on your offer and compensate you with your favorite libation or something. What did you have in mind? I’m in Mt. P.

Ya’ll have room for one more. I can’t seem to stop slapping the water with the heavier flies. Scares the b-jesus out of everything.

I’m typically a M-F 9 to 6 worker. The sun is setting later, so we have more time in the evenings. We can probably work this out via email

I’m pretty open in my schedule, so just let me know a day in advance and I’ll make it. Thanks Jeremy for the help.

I would really liek to get in on this too and will bring cameras if y’all don’t mind…

Hey jeremy… while your teaching lessons maybe you can show them how to turn a 4pc rod into a 5pc… your good at that and its always a crowd pleaser.

 Have fun

Jeremy,
I can meet up with you most of Saturday. If during the week works out better, it might be best if you throw out a couple of dates and times.
Thanks again,
SeaLevelPete

I am in the same situation as a few of you. I’ve fished a 4 wt in the mountains some, but I’m reluctant to even touch my 8 wt out of fear of learning bad form. I y’all could recommend an “expert” for a good lesson or two, let me know- I would be willing to pay a little for the time.

The only “expert” in town is Capt. John Irwin… He is a certified casting instructor. He works through The Charleston Angler and does classes with us. You could also contact him personally and Im sure he would be willing to work somthing out in the way of lessons.

If you wan’t some help but don’t need an “expert” you can always swing by one of our shops in W.A or Mt. Pleasant and we would be glad to work with you free of charge. There are a few of us here who could help out getting you on the right track.

I knew the angler(s) did group lessons, but I didn’t know about all that. Thanks very much for the info Mike.

Y’all better jump on Mikes offer… I talked to him for about 30 minutes one day, never even touched a flyrod, just talked about casting and he helped me improve my casting 100%… Imagine what he can do if you actually had your rod there… Mike is Good peeps and I have not met a CA employee that wasn’t…

Paddle faster boys… I hear banjo music!
