Casting Platform or Yeti?

i have a bluepoint in perfect condition if you are interested

Thanks P-K. PM sent

I’m still interested PK. Let me know if you are

I saw this old topic and I couldn’t stand my fly line getting caught on my yeti cooler. Did you know that there are pins on the yeti that you can pull out very easily with a screw driver and then you can flip your yeti rubber clips backwards so the fly line doesn’t get caught on it? Check out the video on page 19 of this link:

I would have agreed that the casting platform is the way to go, but for the past year that I flipped my rubber latches I have no snags on the yeti!

This is what we use, rock solid and is also nice for leaning on during long days. Never have any hangups. It can be made shorter but you can see everything from this one.

where do you put the ice and beer?

Coleman 100 quart. On tournament days it is our live well and we cant carry beer so a soft side fits snuggly under the seat right next to the life jackets. Just have to work with what we have. I don’t mind using a Yeti on other peoples boats but I prefer more height and stability of the platform. You better be confident in your balance to get up on the one I have.

The surface area of a 45 qt yeti is almost double the size of you platform. You fall off that thing you might brake something.

Then don’t fall off.

Mine was custom built for me and is 27" tall. I wanted a leaning post and platform. For me I want to be a high as I can so the guy in the front can see the same thing as the guy on the pole. Believe me I don’t suggest everyone try and get up there. It is nice for a couple of older guys I fish with to have to lean against, they aren’t getting up on anything no matter how big it is. It is all about catching fish and this one works very well for what I do.

For you guys using yeti’s up front. Take a screw driver and pull the silver pins out that hold the latches on and turn the latch around and re-insert pin. Line snags sloved! The wet towel works great on anything in your boat that could snag lines.

See the boat forum… the man made me an awesome ladder, surely he could make a casting platform.
