Cat lines in the ocean

Why can’t we put cat lines in the ocean or in the inlet it isn’t hearing anyone I don’t see why we can’t put cat lines out

What the heck is a cat line  If nobody hears it, it’s OK with me:smiley:

It’s like the lines you run a long what that have hooks connected to the long line that you run as far as you want and you catch a lot of fish that way

their called trot lines. and you can. just check the regs, and be legal.

I was just wandering I’m not going to do them ill stick to the cast net

You catch a lot of cat in your cast net?

Hi MT,
Are cat lines attached to the fishing pole, or to an anchor? Cause you need a special permit/endorsement for trotlines, but I’m not aware of any limitation on the # of hooks you can have from a hand line or a pole’s line, if there are any.

Casting is great, ain’t it? I love casting, but rarely catch big fish w/ it, not that I’d want to.

What’s the above mean? “makes planes”? like airplanes? You mean plans, right? like plans to eat. OK, well, best of luck.

this question has arisen in the recent past several times.
some have suggested it to mean “you should go fishing before you go in for your shift at Boeing”. i have come to my own conclusion:
“Before you get excited about eating your 14lb Flounder, you must first catch the 14lb Flounder.”

am i close?

Haha and y’all thought I could get on your nerves… good grief. …

Actually it’s called “longlining”… Obviously bottom longlining was outlawed because those devices are WMD’s for a fishery. Pelagic longlining still occurs (for now), but it’s probably only a matter of time before it gets shut down.
