Cat owners opinion

Thinking about getting a newer ride with twin motors and thinking about going to a catamaran style hull. Was wondering if ant Cat owners in the area could give their thoughts on their hull and if they would buy another one.Any info would be much appreciated.

I have a 26’ TwinVee cat CC with twin Suzukis 175’s and love it. Alot of cats in the 26’ range are heavy, 4000 lbs plus, the twinvee hull is 2700# theres nothing fancy about them just a fishing boat. I get close to 3 mpg at cruise…4000 rpm’s–32 mph, WOT is in the low 50’s. 2-3’ seas you can run WOT if you want to. I’ve had mine in 5-6’ seas still manage low 20’s, The hull has a lifetime warranty and is “unsinkable” haven’t tryed that part. No trim tabs, each engine has its own gas tank, battery etc. docking is 100% easier, engines on the corners instead of together allows you to turn 360 deg in one spot, I shrimp off mine and use it offshore…1 1/2’ draft. Cats do have some “weird” querks you will get use to them. I’ve owned dozens boats from 12’ to 37’ gradys, sea rays, hydro sports, wellcraft etc. fine boats but …I will never own another mono hull boat, the ride between mono and cats is no comparison. I’m hoping to get time next week to fish if you want a test ride you are welcome just PM me
PS and yes Freeman cats are niceeee…

I had a Grady White F-26 Tiger Cat back in the late 90’s. Had twin Yammie 150 2 strokes. Anyway, it was a beast in heavy chop on the Chesapeake Bay, would go out when others feared to go…solid as a battleship. It was, indeed, a heavy boat but a great ride, fast for its size, sucked a lot of gas, though. Seems like you love 'em or hate 'em. Loved mine when I had it…sold her when kids came along. One thing, at anchor you get a lot of noise from water sloshing in between those cats but you get used to it. Grady stopped making them because they just didn’t measure up to those who specialized such as Glacier Bay, etc.

Own 26 glacier bay. comfortable ride. roomy to fish on. YES would buy absolutely buy another cat!

I love my 19’ cat, a Twinvee Baycat. No boat is perfect, but I love the things that a cat brings to the table. The front casting deck is HUGE, it is ridiculously stable at rest and underway, and eats up a nasty chop. There are quirks that monohulls don’t have, for instance, mine leans slightly to the outside in a turn which takes a little getting used to.

If you’re looking for a larger cat, I’ll second the reccomendation of the Freeman cat. I haven’t ridden in it, but seen it numerous times on the water and it is one sweet rig.

Pillage and plunder with a 9wt and a fist full of clousers.

Thanhs for all the input.Capt Ed, I appreciate the invite but i’m tied up all week this week. The Freeman boats look really nice but are a bit out of reach for me.
