I new to this board but not new to fishing. I wanted to share this and see if anyone else has been in this area and had the same problems.
North 32 40.800
West 079 46.593 is the general area that I have been cussing for a while now. Its about 3 miles of the jettes.
When you get there, look at your contours and you will see the bottom does some really interesting stuff. Its kinda like a group of mini ledges with the depth dropping 3 to 6 feet, then back up.
I’m running two down riggers about 30 feet trolling from 3 to 5 knts.
Most of the time the action is dead in the flat areas but when I run the contours whith these drops from 3 to 5 feet, the action happens fast.
I have had 21 hook ups over the last 3 trips during the last 3 weeks and have landed 2 complete fish. What I normaly end up with is less than half a fish. The largest piece of fish I brought in was 17 inches from the tip of the nose to the back of the gill plate.
Any comments, suggestions or experiences in this area?
There are some monster weakfish out there that will devour anything under six feet this time of year. Try a higher drag setting to get the fish away before they can run them down. I have also had luck with hooking a fish and driving the boat away from the humps at 15 to 20 miles an hour. This brings the target to the top and gets it out of view of the predator fairly quickly.

Hmmmmm, I wus thinking cuda or shark but I try to keep an open mind when it comes to critters in the ocean. When weak fish came up I did a quick search on east coast records for weak fish and came up with a fish about 33 inch long and weighing 18 -19 pounds.
It was a combination of the two. You can see where the bite started which was not jagged but then it was shreaded. Short strings of meat, maybe 2 to 5 inches long were hanging from what I put in the boat.
To me sounds like you get into a mess of kings, cudas, and sharks and dont think its a big cuda the little ones are fast and will eat any size fish ive had a little eat a 25lb king next to the boat before
