Catching fiddler crabs

I’m looking forward to fishing for sheepshead this winter, but I’m looking for a way to get some fiddlers on a budget. As much as I like going to haddrell’s, I am in school so I try to cut corners where I can. Any ideas? thanks

Anything that pulls drag, right?

with this cold, they might be burrowing in for the winter. Will make them tough to catch on your own.

Find a mud hole with fiddler burrows, shovel a scoop of mud and break it apart. Grab the fiddlers as they try to scatter. Only way you’ll get them in this weather. Then go home and feel bad for destroying their homes.

AWA tomorrow here in Savannah…70* tomorrow and they’ll be hungry. Look it up or bury a small slick bucket with bait…where the crab holes be.

yak ; google mossy head bait … they sell the bait wrap system which allows you to use oysters ; shrimp ; ect in a way that keeps the bait on the hook ; it shows several videos on its use and i can attest that it works better for sheeps than any thing i have ever used , also works for cats in fresh water , google it ;; very interesting videos…:smiley::smiley::smiley:

Just robb a pair of your wife’s pantyhose

Do you think they will fit, might get your feet wet in them!

I can attest, Mossy Head Bait System is awesome and works. A little pricey for a monster syringe and netting but I’ve caught BIG ones with it… and the hookups seem to come easier as they kind of just suck it down. If you want fiddlers try the bucket and bait method or put a piece of plywood in a hammock if you’ve got one nearby. The land based brown ones will hang out under there. Digging takes too long IMO. Or just wait for a 70+ degree day with sun.
