did a little fishing last three days(wappo area, stono and banks up around sol legre and managed to catch fish after moving around a bit. Fish woul bite real well in some places …then quit…others we would see pushing but they seemd to have lock jaw…or maybe they made a New Years Resolution to cut back on eating:wink:…but we still managed to do ok all three days. Have been fortunate to have a run on black drums lately. funny because we dont usually catch them as often as when we go to Mcclellanville…but last three weeks have found them in several different areas. Water pretty clean right now…but coooold. how do I know? Because I managed to push off after gathering fiddlers on one trip before I realized my boot wasnt leaving the mudd when my foot did:smiley:. Thats why i keep a dry set of clothes…including socks, in the boat . Bass caught on “shrimp cocktail” mostly…a small frozen shrimp with a fiddler to cap the hook…you know…fish swims by and says “hey looky looky…that fiddla eat’n him some lunch and not payin no mind to me”… trout tricks and some big weird red paddle tail things(soft bait) I got from Hadrells that seems to work well for the reds too. Frozen shrimp for the black drum…trout trick and electric chickens for the trout. heres a few pics…took more but realized later I forgot to put a chip in camera…lol…
strange sky…
either caught him twice…or he has a close twin
Few of the drums we caught…smallest was 10"…broke one off that was definately bigger than the 20 incher.
Thanks guys! Vin…I pod meg on here…did she get it?
The oysters were delicous…I swear to you…they were perfect size and out of all that I ate only be had three lades to it…the rest were ingles or doubles only.
Whats sadder still, I was over here racking my brains and feeling embarrassed about not knowing what “pod” meant! LOL!
I’m 2 weeks into my first I-phone, I’m being trained by 2 I-kids, and between buttons, lingo and other cr"apps" you may see me on the Ravenel soon, stomping my I-stuff and threatening to jump!
Thanks for your posts! I always look forward to seeing and reading them. It’s a great reminder of the resources and beauty of the area we live. Thanks for recording it for all to enjoy!
Thanks Penny. Enjoy your photos. Your family really knows how to enjoy life. That’s what it is all about. Making memories to last a lifetime.
I remember picking up oysters with my dad and grandpa when I was younger. If grandpa cracked one open while breaking up clusters, he would rinse it off and eat it cold. I still can’t do it, but I can sure remember his expression.
Great report Pen. It was great to meet you and all the others at the oyster roast, it was a great group of people, my wife and I had a great time and when we left the roast we went to the Charleston boat show. That was really nice! it is a much larger show than we have here in Myrtle. I wish I could put them in the boat like yall do…
well I would have liked to put one in the boat with daddy sunday…but the only thing we caught…was up with each other :(…but that was just fine too(see report)
