Caught a gar, now looking for a landing net

Caught a gar this weekend and realize I need a landing net. I fish both fresh and salt, off the shores / piers, surf fish sometimes. Is there a go to net most people use that holds up well to salt? I don’t do any offshore. There is a ton of nets on the internet, I just need something tried and true. TIA.

Go to Walmart and get the Frabill net with rubber webbing. Approx $30.

I like the EGo Slider black rubber net.

Fits in my rod locker without pinching my fingers in those stupid push pin releases other nets use.

You will appreciate the rubber webbing if you fish treble hooks! But the nets are small for large fish like stripers and gar. Find one with the longest handle you can find, might think a gaff also!

I like the rubber. I think it’s easier on the fish. I probably released 95% of my fish.

I am fragile.
Not like a flower.
But like a bomb.

I got the fixed handle version and cut about 8" off so it’ll fit in the console, they are the ticket. Paid 29$ for it at sportsmans in Columbia, I think field and stream sells rangers in Charleston also.

Great input! I will look for one with rubber netting and an extend handle. I don’t have a boat, so everything has to fit in my 4runner with me and my boys. Usually have 5 rods, tackle boxes, minnow trap, cast net, orca, etc. I’m going to have to get a trailer to haul all my gear!

Thanks again! Got the $30 rubber net from the mart, hopefully it will see some action this weekend!
