Caught a Spanish

On a grub in the stono near the maybank bridge

Anyone else catching them in the rivers?

I actually caught one 2 weeks ago in 3 ft feeder Creek at Kiawah. Tide was dead low and it was on a mud minnow under a cork. Still don’t know what it was doing there it was keeping size

Caught one yesterday evening in the Wando. On topwater. Awendaw, up from Paradise landing almost in the National Forest. 19 inches

We saw several schools in the harbor 2 weeks ago, but couldn’t land any. Using mud minnows on light jigs, under corks, and free lining. They just kept eating everything but the head, completely rejected spoons.

That sounds like a school of bluefish. Got into a school of them on the Folly - list about a 30”. Had 7 or 8 strikes but couldn’t land one. Wife landed a little peanut.

Is that 19” total length or fork length? The one I caught was 15” total length but super skinny not much meat on him. Didn’t know the regulations, but even if it was a legal keeper would have thrown him back - just not enough meat

Fork length; 12 inches fork length minimum in regs. This one also was skinny. I figured it was very lost for a while having caught it where I did.

Blues ladys and macs all respond well to chum. Post up river from a point on a incoming tide and let your bait and chum drift back to the point.

I wondered if I had one chewing on my menhaden under a popping cork. I could see the cork bobbing pretty hard, when I pulled up the menhaden, all that was left was the head dripping blood. I re-rigged another menhaden but did not get another bite, guess it was not hungry anymore.

Bluefish, got into a school of them last weekend. Couldn’t keep bait out. Landed 4 of them, biggest 1.5lb.

Ya know, it must be nice living in Neverneverland. Remind me to come visit you, when I need a break from reality.
