Wow! I’m hooked! Nothing like seeing the fish dart up and blow the plug up. Had a few miss it on the first attempt and keep chasing it until they were able to swallow it.
I had never caught any saltwater fish on top water before. Awesome experience!
That’s awesome, topwater is definitely one of my favorite fishing methods. Now wait until you watch clumsy redfish nail it. Talk about being hooked!

Congrats! I try to watch for my line to move before setting the hook. But it’s hard to do some times

I will actually slowly reel after a hit, if the line tightens up, set the hook. If it still feels slack, wait for a second, the plug will come back to the surface, then continue working the lure. Most times the fish will continue to follow and strike more than once.

Good for you! I’ve not caught many on top water; probably pulled the plug away from three times more than I’ve landed. Test of patience to not try to set hard when I see all the commotion.
