CC VHF mount

Dang Cracker! I ordered one online last night. I really appreciate the offer! I guess I jumped the gun:frowning_face: Got excited:stuck_out_tongue: Ordered the mount, cable and short antenna!

I have the mount people posted above. Its been great, very easy to swivel the antenna horizontal when I need to put the cover on, like I should have done last week:

adam7; Can you keep the antenna up when you have the Bimini top up?

if you have the room, flush mount in the console
yes, you have to cut a hole, but it takes up MUCH less room, and offers a more secure install

Thanks Chris V; I value your opinion! Your are usually spot on!

With the top up I have to tilt it forward about 30 degrees, just in front of the bimini frame. But that mount makes it easy, just loosen it up a bit, position as needed, then tighten back down. It doesn’t really affect the VHF from what I can tell, but I also carry a floating/waterproof handheld for backup.

Ok, as promised:
My mount is a little more flush than the one in previous posts.

I bought the low profile Standard Horizon Vhf because it takes up less than half the space. I ran the antenna cable around the console at the edge of the windshield, then around the outside and over to the hand rail, then down the hand rail, then under the rod holder and behind the front seat cooler then behind the other side front rod holder and then up the hand rail to the antenna.

Kind of hard to see, but I have a ss clamshell covering the hole for my power cable and the hole is filled with white silicon so it won’t leak water inside the console.

Now that I look closer, mine is not exactly the one posted above. Mine looks more like this one, but with a handle to make adjustments super easy:

I’m no radio guru ? Do you need a certain length cable between antenna and radio? Is that why you ran it all the way around the console? Could you have run a shorter cable more directly?

Yep, it is supposed to be a certain distance from the radio, and the antenna came with 15’ cable built in and I didn’t want to cut it.

Got it! Thanks again tigerfin. I like it, but may want to go with a shorter antenna so as not to interfere with the Bimini Top when up!

Said it would take 10 days to get in? I’m just looking for ideas of what I want to do with it. So far I’ve gotten some good ones!

who around here is pushing roller trailers?

Didn’t say they were pushing them, it was sitting on one and they were selling it. I really think, they maybe thought, I wouldn’t care!
