Cd/Radio question

I have 4 6inch poly planar speakers and a Sony head unit in my boat. I can play the radio all day long with no problems until i turn it up loud enough to hear while on plane, it starts cutting in and out of power like the batteries are dying, but both batteries are brand new.

My question is, Is the head unit going bad and needs replaced or do I need a small amplifier added? or how do I fix this?

Any ideas appreciated…

I have replaced the old speakers with brand new ones, put two new batteries in the boat and also had the radio wired to its own switch, still the same problem.

This same thing happened to me. My issue was the gauge of the power wiring off of the battery. I increased the gauge…problem solved.

I know this is an old topic but I wanted to post how the problem was solved.

First i tried a different head unit just to be sure it was not a internal issue in the unit itself, same problem. So then I added a amplifier under the console and ran everything off of that, works like brand new. Apparently the head unit I have was not pushing enough power to run the 4 speakers I had. Problem solved.
