Cedar Arbor install question

I’ve built a beautiful Arbor for the son and his bride. It’s made of Cedar and I have a question regarding the install.

My understanding is it will rot if installed directly in ground. Soooo, what’s the best way to install?? Everything I’ve built in past like decks and fences were direct burial so never had this issue.

So far the OZ-Post looks like the best option. Bracket for it is unsightly as we would need to keep bottom of post above ground. I saw some wrap around covers online that I believe would cover the bracket and prevent weedeater damage.

Thanks for the help, as always!

Try wrapping the joint with sheet copper, weather resistant and not bad looking!

Pictures man. Show off your work.

I would check out the post bases from Simpson Strongtie if you are wanting something that looks good.

Thanks for the tips on copper and the Simpson. Great options.

Doug, It’s in three pieces, sides and top. Better to transport to site, then put together.

I’ll wait.

slab some roofing tar on the post that go in the ground, you’ll be good.
