I need to add a cell new phone/line. But I want to know what services are available with out the 2 year contract. And the cheapest. I am currently stuck in a 2 year with verizon(3 phones) at $200 a month. But I will cost me another $40 a month to add a line(if I have the phone). Is there a cheaper option for text and data?
Check out Republic wireless. We have been using them for 3 years now and love it. Up and coming technology as their phones use wifi for cell calls when available and the sprint network when out of wifi range. You buy the phone outright and they have 4 different plans from $5/month for wifi only to $40 for 4G unlimited/month. We use the 3G unlimited plan for $25. Go to there web site and research recent reviews. I think it is the best thing going. They only have 2 phones available but are working on others. They have the motorola Defy xt and the moto x. The moto x is awesome.
No contract!
You could always explore a prepay option.

That is why I left Verizon. T-mobile will pay up to a certain amount of your termination fee if you go with them. I have 3 phones with unlimited talk/text/data for around $100. You can add additional lines for $10/mo. I know some folks have issues with coverage. The only issue I ever had was in my house. They provided a signal booster (free) and I now have 4 bars everywhere in my house. If you are not interested in that, I think Walmart has a plan for around $35. I just joined the smartphone generation. I bought my phone from a 3rd party and TM activated it for free. Their service is great.

Boost Mobile is Sprint’s pre-paid, no contract plan, and uses their cell towers. It features “true” unlimited text, and data. Starts around $55.00/month, and drops $5.00/month for every six months of on time payments. I used Sprint for several years, switched to Boost, and ended up saving around $85.00/month.
Keep in mind the “true unlimited” statement when shopping for bargain plans, as Boost is the only one I’ve found to be truly that.

20 years with ATT, switched to straight talk three years ago. Never a problem with dropped calls or no service and it’s unlimited text, data and calls $47.87 a month.

Try the Walmart Family Mobile plan, they use T-Mobile’s network, so same service as with T-Mobile. 30$ a month unlimited talk/text, $40 talk/text/wireless. Cant beat it.
Based on my experience, anything associated with Sprint will end up being sub standard. They suck.
Thanks everyone. Republic wireless was a new one for me. I will check them out.
For right now this is just for my 11 year old daughter, until next year when my contract is up
I decided to give Republic wireless a try. $300 for the phone but $5 a month. Since i’m paying $45 a month for my home phone I might just use this.
x2 Walmart - 3rd year on my Samsung T404G and lovin it
just FYI the prepaid is never as good as contract.

I should get the phone today. It is WI-FI only for now. I will let yall know how it is…
I think you will like the phone and as long as you have wifi its hard to beat the $5/month. You will be ahead of the game in just a few months.
Thanks for the suggestion Hooligan. So far I really like it.
And even better, for another $5 a month, I can add unlimited talk and text cell service.
