Several months ago I read how to make ceviche on here, but as I’m not real savvy in the kitchen and I want to try and make this for 4th of July could someone please tell me if I can use bass or flounder as the recipe used wahoo. Also, can you use the lemon and lime juice in the bottles or should I get real lemons and limes? Thank-you for any info.
Flounder will work, just do not marinate it for too long (maybe 3,4 hours) as it is fairly delicate meat, just keep a eye on it while marinating in the fridge so it dosen’t get too ‘overcooked’ not sure how a red would be, never tried it. The lemon and lime juice in the bottles is the way to go. Shoot me a pm if ya need recipe.

The ceviche was a huge hit at the cook-out. I made just it like ya’ll did, but used spottail bass and it was great. My wife’s always tagged along with me in the saltwater and has been making crab and shrimp dip for 35yrs, which she carried to the cook-out also, but the ceviche stole the show! Thanks again for your help.

Fresh lemon and limes always. The bottled crap is just that. Save it for your kid’s lemonade stand or emergency use only. Any firm white meat fish can be used as well as tuna (OMG Good). A touch of fresh orange can provide just a touch of sweet, and cucumber is a suprising crunch, on occasion.

Any white fish will work, squeeze fresh limes, cut the fish in small cubes and marinate in the juice for an hour to two hours tops. Strain and mix with diced tomatoes, purple onion, fresh cilantro, and crushed pineapple. Eat with some crackers or a spoon… You won’t be disappointed.
Try it with shrimp you will like it.
How about Sheepshead???
Almost any fish will do, especially white meat fish. Sheepshead would be excellent! I’ve done Tuna, Largemouth Bass, Crappie, flounder, trigger fish… but… catfish was not quite there. Almost but not quite!

Gotta give this a try! I’m going sheephead fishing friday, so i just may have to give it a try over the weekend! I have a buddy of mine who makes catfish jerky!!! Yep, thats right, Catfish Jerky!!! Its good too!!!
We fell in LOVE with ceviche this past May while in Belize. Shrimp is definitely the way to go but spot tail bass is good too. I would love to try the tuna or wahoo. Many of the local Mexican restuarants do a real good ceviche. My wife has learned to make it and we do an entire meal out of it. Fresh shrimp out of our creek is the bomb!

Cut it fine and add peppers and onions. You like it hot then go hot peppers.
All fish will do but cut out the bloodline and fine chop. Add cilantro. If you like it at the end.
