I have a 2006 F115TLR motor that I am looking to change the impeller on. All videos on YouTube show replacing impeller and none of the other parts that come in the repair kit. Should I purchase the repair kit and replace everything or just purchase the impeller and new bolts?
I always get the full kit and replace the bottom plate and housing cup too. The bottom plate gets a lot of wear. You have to remove the impeller key from the shaft to pull the plate. Got to take the housing off anyway, so it’s easy to swap. Do it all.

Thank you sir. That’s what I needed.

The hardest part is getting that dang key out of the shaft. Kit will come with a new key.

I had the pleasure of repairing a chewed up keyway the other day for an older friend of mine. Key wouldn’t come out, so his answer was a bigger hammer and a giant punch…needless to say the old key came out, but new key wouldn’t go in. He chewed it up pretty badly, but we got it fixed.
I’m with Larry, while you’re in there, it’s silly not to replace it all.

What’s the best method to get the old key way out? I asked the boat dealer where I bought the parts and didn’t get any advice. Guess they were afraid I’d take away their business.

get a new dealer
flat round punch and a small 2# sledge hammer
secure the gear case and shaft.(we have a special rack for this, so not sure how you are going to do it.)
beat the top of the woodriff key down and toward the center of the shaft.
it is shaped like a half moon, so if you drive the top down and in, the bottom will come out, and once it starts moving, keep beating on it like it owes you money. we aren’t talking about love taps here.

Thanks for the instruction and input guys. I have been buying my parts and misc. items from one particular dealer. We don’t have a lot of options to choose from.
Should have stuck with ordering parts on Internet and saved a few bucks.
