We went toward the North based on dock talk and Friday trips. Started at ledge on the 180 line. We worked a broken edge of scattered weeds out to 400 feet and up to the 085. caught 8 dolphin, half gaffers half slingers and a little shark. Very disappointing for mid May but weather couldn’t be better. Sounds like guys in the 300s up to the Outcrop were in the right place. The temp break 77.5/80.5 was inshore in 120 feet on way home. Imagine good fishing there today if you find break
I was out by the outcrop only got one dolphin about 25lbs lost another which broke off at the boat and only one or two short strikes a couple of cudas. saw some birds working on the way in threw a bucktail and hooked up with a nice blackfin which also broke off when he saw the boat. thinking I need to beef up my tackle. good day anyway.
We were those guys in the 300s at the outcrop and the bite was good but only for a few hours then it was ice cold. It felt more like very late summer than mid May.
