charging my 24 volt trolling motor batteries

Hey guys; I should know this but cannot remember. i have a 24 vaold system and a 24 volt Battery Tender charger. i have pos to neg and neg to pos on the batteries. my question is to what post do i clip on the pos and neg charger clips. i know that i can disconnect one battery from the other and charge them separately with my 12 volt charger. it has been a while and i am now brain dead on this issue. thanks in advance.

Sounds like they are in series. Batteries in series double the voltage while keeping a constant current. Hook your 24 volt tender such that black goes to the negative post on battery 1 (also black for your trolling motor connection) and the red to the positive post of battery 2 (also the red for your trolling motor). This will charge it like it is one giant 24 volt battery.

You could also get another trolling motor plug. Connect the red and black from the plug to the red and black from the battery tender. Now plug this into the trolling motor plug at the front of your boat.

Hope this helps.

if you are charging with a 24 volt charger…
you will hook the positive charger lead to the positive terminal on battery 1
you will hook the negative charge lead to the negative terminal on battery 2
there should be a jumper wire connecting the negative of battery 1 to the positive of battery 2
