Went out with my neighbor, his son, and Meg & Ethan for a little chark fun today. Started out slow, but once we found them, we got our money’s worth! Wound up catching 6 big boy sharks, a mess of pup sharks, and a good day of memories. Sorry there are not more pics with kids and charks, as I was also the only person on the boat that could catch, unhook, and release charks. I never touched the camera once and am a poor director!
Neighbor Zach with a little fella!
Zach & Megan with a bigger fella! About a 2.5’ sharpnose.
Megan jacked up on a sharpnose!
Ethan jacked up on a nice 45" bonnethead! He fought it for 20 minutes!
Me & the boy with his biggun!
Winna winna, shark dinna! The boy with his catch!
Was a fun day! Neighbor & his son haven’t caught a whole lot of fish, so it was fun to get some charkies! Looking forward to another day of this!
Charks caught on whole mullet (big charks) and squid (little charks, except for Ethan’s nice bonnethead). Good times!

Curiosity question, also. Are all the photos upright? We have 2 computers in the house, and it looks fine on my computer but the computer right next to me it is sideways. Just curious if anyone sees any goofiness.

Looks like a great time I want to take the kids out there to tear them up. I have had a hard time finding the “right spot” there. I’m guessing if I get my dept finder fixed I would be more successful. Congratz and enjoy the shark!
hope anyone else who went fishing sunday had a blast too!

hey muffins! sorry we had to cruise by and couldn’t take a look at your catch in person. one of these days, there’s gonna be a blue can slaughter when i find my way over to the triumph
big fan of the contrast in facial expressions between neighbor (first pic) and ethan (last)… the stone cold shark killer look gives way to the extra cheesy “lookatwhaticaughtisn’tthissocool!” look!
for those aspiring bonnet slayers who want a piece of ethan’s action, squid or shrimp are the ticket as vince noted… they’ll occasionally eat fish but most of mine are incidentals when using little bits of cut shrimp. bittner, if you can find a calm spot within 50 yards of any part of the jetties right now, you can put your kids on some sharpnose. anchor on sand and put out as much fresh cut menhaden as you can on wire leaders.
and BTW, the baby snarks with black fins are neonatal sharpnose- you can still see the umbilical scar on their chest in between the pectoral fins if they’ve been born within a few weeks-- i’ve heard a lot of folks report that the “baby blacktips” are here. real blacktips are born the size and shape of a football, but much angrier and sharper…
Thanks, BW! And we shall get together one of these days on the water. BTW, when we gutted that big girl she had a whole blue crab in her belly that would have been a meal all by itself! Freaked the kids out!
That was the first time Zach ever did anything like that from a boat. He was pretty stoked and wants to go again soon for red fish we always talk about. We will do that soon.
Got a little conservation chat in with him, too, as he was bummed that Ethan got to keep his fish but he didn’t get to keep his. And the importance of making sure we release fish healthy that we aren’t going to keep. He was all ears! Good kid!
The steaks were delicious. I put a marinade recipe in the cooking section you might enjoy. Kids had seconds! I had BIG seconds!

Nice job Vinman! Kids all looked like they had a real blast. We are heading out after work tomorrow to try our luck for the “charks” too…hopefully we have the same kinda luck!
