Hey guys, I’m a experienced angler, but mainly Beufort n edisto area. I have become very interested in charleston area lately, and spied some areas on the map like grays bay, copahee, hamlin, the area southwest of ft sumter. Are these areas generally productive for reds, trout, or anything that bites?
yes.
Yes, but you need a skinny water boat with depth finder
“In every species of fish I’ve angled for, it is the ones that have got away that thrill me the most, the ones that keep fresh in my memory. So I say it is good to lose fish. If we didn’t, much of the thrill of angling would be gone.” Ray Bergman
Well I have a small bay boat style. Drafts less than a foot.
there are fish in all of these areas, but i would not recommend taking a boat to copahee its alllotttt trickier to navigate than say hamlin or grey bay…
But make sure you check google maps to make sure u dont make a wrong turn.
These areas should start getting good with these cooler temps.
Saltwatersportsman actually did an article about the winter fishing in hamlin and grey bay
but remember the fish in hamlin and grey bay get alot of pressure, since it is fished so often
good luck and keep us updated on how u do
