Not sure if Charleston 60 counts as offshore but been learning new ways of fishing since my first couple of years was all in shore with the odd trip to Capers.
Steep learning curve but having fun. In last month or so had my first King, Spade and various Tuna. Obvious observation but the fish sure do pull hard, the Spades on my Walleye rod and Stella 4k was a lot of fun, took maybe 100 yards on first run. Enjoying do the ‘kid like’ fishing, dropping small chunks of bait in front of the fish and seeing them suck it down. Oh, and they taste great, marinated them and had tacos.
Had a couple of close encounters with Cobia, but haven’t put one in the boat yet.
Kings are a lot of fun as well. Even caught one jigging!
I find myself doing a lot more pre trip prep than i did for inshore, and everything seems to cost more and you loose more stuff, but its def worth it.
Looking forward to the dolphin coming in a bit closer later in the summer and also trying again for tarpon, though I’m hearing they might already be here.

Looking at the first pic of you and the king- a word of warning- they along with cudas(which you will catch soon) and wahoo will all bite you requiring a trip to the ER. That king looks awful close to your arm.
Offshore is a exciting world like no other:smiley:

Thanks Dman, i didnt even realize that, thx. And yes, Cudas are a pain, lost some really nice and pricey cobia lures to cudas chewing them up!
On bait, ive finally, finally got my cast net throw down, so I hopefully wont have to keep doing the sabiki thing.
cheers
