Got a late start and headed out to the 60 around 7am after catching some bait in the harbor. Stopped in 50’ of water on a nice rip with some good weed to see if there were any fish, nada so decided to drag sea witches from there to the 60 and had about a 30lb king skyrocket about 10 ft out of the water on the flat line right behind boat, pretty cool site. Got to the Chas 60 and missed two more kings on the seawitches so switched over to the smoke chokers with stingers and managed what would have been a 30lb king but was bit in half by a large shark, continued slow trolling and managed another kings before calling it a day at noon.
On the way in, in about 48’ of water we passed a small sail chasing bait, turned around to see if we could get him to eat, but he was no where to be found. Beautiful day on the water.
Went for a quick trip also. Cuaght 6. 5 kings from 10 to 20lb. and 1 large cuda. Lost a great strike about 10am. Could have been a shark eating a king. Dont know.
It was a great day. Back at the docks at 12.

I used to like to catch sharks, but now I hate those friggin things. Seems like the only time you get the big ones attention(that are fun to catch), its when you got a nice gamefish on the line.
Harry Sea. Thats how I roll.
Made it out to the C60 around 11:00. Trolled SE and right off the bat the first line in went off and landed a 15# king. Got into 70’ of water and had two short strikes… I’m thinkin it was another king bite. Nothing for an hour then 300 yards in front of the boat a sail fish jumps out the water making two jumps and then not less than one min. after that the flat line gets hit hard. Fish on for about 2 min pilling line then bam the line snaps. Would have been my first sail too but oh well maybe next time. Great day on the water and made it home by 5:00 to cook up some king fish tacos.
how much further from the 60 is 70 feet of water? and were you over some secret live bottom numbers, or just trolling in random areas?

the action from the kings has been great lately, except the larger ones havent really been on at the 60, i guess they have moved in closer towards the jetties. Forgot to mention, that on the way out through the jetties the girlfriend says that she just saw a fish jump out of the water and right as i was asking how big it was i see it or another one jump as well, it looked to be a really nice king probably 35-40lbs.
harris just a few miles SE of the 60 you will hit 70, there is a good stretch of live bottom from the 60 out about another 15 miles or so on the maps unique chart. At the end of it there is some decent spots to troll for dolphin and an occasional wahoo around the 100’-110’ mark.

we got out late Sat (left dock about 11ish) for a mainly test fishing run in new boat with the wife (rare that she gets to go). We ran straight past the 60 and fished in about 75 - 80 ft for 2 hrs. Nice weed patches at 80ft, but lots scattered around it. Hard to fish it, saw a few flyers, but not many. Great bottom though. Trolled bally. Saw 2 boats dropping bait right on the weed patches, didn’t look like much being caught tho.
Few short strikes, possibly a sail. Couple others came back like they had been cut with a razor, so toothy ones there too. I usually have a second hook, but did not mess with it this day. We did not catch anything, but it was a great day, and new boat did well.
Did hear chatter though - there was alot of activity in 95 - 110 ft beyond us, kings and dolphins. Good afternoon bite. Also heard some decent dolphin between comanche and Y73. We did not have time to push out, will try just a bit deeper next time.
