Hey y’all,
What’s the best time tide wise and best way to fish the battery? Want to try somewhere different with some new scenery.

Always had better luck on high tide. Sheeps usually around the rocks. Caught bull Whiting. Way too many tourist and people saying where I come from, I catch walleye.
Ya know, it must be nice living in Neverneverland. Remind me to come visit you, when I need a break from reality.
Your not allowed to fish the one side from the corner toward the harbor club, but from the corner to the coast guard station you can fish. I’ve heard there is good flounder fishing but there are rocks along the entire length of it so you will get snagged close to the wall on the bottom. There are a few tunnels that run under the road and have water flowing out on the falling tide. I think there are drains in front of each road that leads to the battery and also to some of the drains. I’ve seen people catch the standard whiting, ray etc on bait on the bottom. I use to popping cork blue fish when I was a kid, I’d just toss it out to the channel and let it drift with finger mullet. I’ve heard there is trout by the coast guard station marsh. I’d fish it on a moving tide and have a popping cork and doa shrimp and then some swimming jigs like 3 inch paddle tails and keep it close but off the bottom. I’ve heard the water front park has good sheep head fishing and it is a nice area too. The battery isn’t that bad to fish because the bugs aren’t really around and there are Street lights at night and you usually have a lot of room.
Also some very good Flounder fishing around the point out front of Waterfront park. Drag Mud Minnows around the pylons and grass.
I’ve had success fishing both the High and Low Battery with jigs or topwater plugs. I always go early - sunrise early. It cuts down, but does not eliminate, the aforementioned, “whacha catching”…
