Was it me or was the Charleston Boat Show seriously lacking in the kayak representation? Granted, I only went on Friday.
Essentially no yaks, no SUP’s , less micro skiffs ( no Dragonfly representation this year), less BIG boats.
Lotsa 18-27 ft boats, lotsa Yamaha new 200’s
“Boat show specials” ran about 10% off.
The Charleston Boat show mostly caters to large boat interests. They only have a few aluminum boats and kayaks. I’m hoping to go to the Columbia boat show in two weeks. They usually have plenty of aluminum boats. I don’t know about kayaks.
There has never been much kayak representation. I think Dave White was there last year with his Malibu’s but that’s about it. I’d love to see Hobie and some of the other manufacturers represented.
We have looked into exhibiting. Problem in the past has been the price. Too expensive for a kayak shop!

I agree with DolphinD
We were there the past two years ? it is too expensive to show there
Covered our costs but not worth all the work involved

I was looking for you at the boat show, Captain Dave.
I kept thinking you were hiding behind the next 35’ yacht.
You were in the boat show commercials.

Capt. Dave, we have tried to convince the powers that be that as small, unmotored craft, Kayak dealers should get a different rate than the guys selling Hi dollar boat, but to no avail!
