Charleston county tax bills on new boat highert ha

I paid the outboard. Still have not heard anything on the boat itself. They have not given me anything so I have a feeling I could be setting up for a fight.

Does anyone have a number that they call to get action. Whenever I call here in Charleston they forward me to a guy named Mike. Who does not return phone calls.

77,sounds like you need to pay him a visit eyeball to eyeball and maybe then you will get an answer.
I know in Collenton County the taxes on my 04 boat and motor was high when it was new,and 5 years later it was the same, when I questioned them about it,they looked into there crystaltaxball and made the necessary adjustments.
Just as someone stated that on an older boat they do not charge any taxes in Chas.County.

Double D.

I’m going through the same thing in Orangeburg county. My taxes for boat and motor are nearly $700! I am going to have to talk to someone at the tax office about that.

Yea - I guess I need to go to a different office. I have been to the North Charleston office 3 times and the girls at the tax office look at me, say its a boat, and that I need to fill out an adjustment form. They say thats all they can do. Your governement at work. They even try to call this “Mike” person and he does not answer their calls either.

I need to go to a different office I guess. I paid the motor but not the boat. So I am curious to see what happens. WIll probably get a nasty gram shortly with late fees.

I had to get an appraisal done at a dealership and take that to the auditor. Found out that the value they were using for my boat was with the motor and trailer. The auditor said she would send me a new bill and give me another thirty days to pay it. It saved me around $200.00

For those of you that live on the southern part of the state, register your boat in GA. There is no property tax and the registration is cheap and good for 3 years. As long is you store the boat in GA 51% of the time you are fine. And, you do not need to be a GA resident to do this.

If two wrongs don’t make a right, try three.

On Saterday I got a new bill in the mail. They dropped it to 80 bucks and the appraisal amount by $13k. So in the end I am very happy. Only problem is they did not change the due date. So I have 2 days to pay it.
