Got beat up pretty bad on a rough ocean but the fishing was good. Vis was around 50-60’ and the water seemed a little colder.
Shot a lot of nice scamps, Mangroves, gags, several 12-15 pound hogs and a few big lobster.
Big fish of the Day was a African Pompano on a wreck. Those suckers are Tough! Group effort but we finally got the fish. Kent pulled a real nice female bug out of the wreck also.
The pompano were schooling close to the wreck mostly staying below the amberjack. Lots of bait and cudas up above the AJ’s.
Last dive of the day it got real sharky, was glad for that dive to be over.

I'm pretty sure that they use their tongue... But, you can ask dodmarlin for a second opinion...

I herd AP’s base 70% of taste on smell.
Correct they taste through their sense of smell, whereas the florida pompano has a small tongue like apendage in the back of its throat the ap has none and therefore relies strongly upon their sense of smell for taste. catch a lot on potted meat
