Charleston Fat Slob (With Pic)

I’m sure this one died… this is me before being briefed by a knowledgeable local fisherman of the negative affects…

great fish man!

to the rest thanks for passing along that info about hanging fish vertically. that’s a main reason people come here is to learn.

Thanks guys for sharing the info. I don’t think my fishing buddies are gonna listen, but I’m gonna preach anyways.

If you want to weigh a big red you could always lay it in a sling/crade like the ones they use for muskies & hook the straps of the sling to the scale. Of course this would take advance planning, but it is one way to get a weight, picture & create the least amount of stress on the fish.

Good catch my friend!!

“Lock em’ down”

Support the belly and the whole body.

Who cares about the weight.

You might just nail the fish to a tree.

Better pictures.

Yea. Not a fan myself. I think it put more pressure on my lower back. Never had that without a belt.

I have been told that holding a large REDFISH the way you are in the pic will hurt the fish if not kill it after it’s been released. They have to be supported parallel to the water…that’s what I’ve been told anyway.

Be nice Wando…

They are spot on with the info about hanging big reds from a Boga. We use to see plenty floating down current from a local grillage capt. I could care less, but plenty of folks on here get their feathers ruffled when it comes to big reds. Heck, I still pull sails out for a picture if it the fishermans first one.

Why kill them mate…let them breed to fight another day!
