I’ll be on vacation at the IOP 5/30 - 6/2. I wanted to hire an inshore charter but can’t afford $300-$400 for a four hour trip. I’ve decided to try the Folly Beach Pier where I could rent tackle and buy bait. I don’t have very high expectations for catching a lot of fish compared with a charter but would appreciate any advice about making the most of fishing on the pier.
Folly is a haul from IOP. I’d say at least 40mins and that’s not including all the increased Memorial Day traffic. I’d visit one of the Walmarts in Mount Pleasant and pick up some inexpensive gear then head to the pier by the Ravenel here: https://www.tompsc.com/Facilities/Facility/Details/35
Thanks for the information, guys. I didn’t know about Ravenel. On another website i read that it’s very easy to get hung up and lose rigs on the bottom.

Is it that big a problem?
Not that I’m aware of but I don’t fish the piers very often. Just use common sense and fish the down current side.

How about $250 for an all day offshore bottom fishing trip? Everything but drinks and food provided. You would be with three other fishermen, Captain and Mate.
