Charleston Harbor Marina Review

We were recently offered access to the Charleston Harbor Marina by Scubastan. I thought I would repay the kindness in a small way by doing a (positive) review of the marina. In a word, the marina is beautiful. Very well kept marina in a beautiful area close to the harbor, and the Mt. Pleasant side of the Ravenenel Bridge near Patriot’s Point or adjacent to it.

I would rate the experience 9 out of 10. The staff I met (Stan was out of town), included Jeb or Jed and Kelly. They are all friendly and helpful. Looking at all the boats doesn’t hurt. The people here are friendly. I believe there are liveaboards. There are also bars to sit in the shade, and rest while you sip on your favorite drinks.

The only reason I give it a 9 out of 10 and not a 10 out of 10 is that there is no actual boat launch. Meaning you have to portage your yak out to the docks, then do a launch from the dock. On the other hand, there are lots of two wheeled carts available, I was easily able to carry my yak on one such device, and I parked adjacent to the resort and launched nearby at an empty dock. The trip to the Castle Pickney is short, maybe 30 minutes. Once inside the marina, the docks break the waves and you’ll breathe a sign of relief out of the way of the boaters flying by, the waves and tide.

I really really enjoyed myself this weekend, despite the fact I got skunked yet again fishing. Thank you Stan for letting us use your beautiful facility to launch. Next time, when my wife is here, I’m taking her down for a few drinks on the water.

I used to have a buddy that lived on a house boat out there while he was going to college. We had a blast out there(reasonably for the area) but remember everyone was great and accommodated us when we needed help. I would have not problem recommending that marina to anyone. Having a bar at the start of it is nice also!

We’re stuck between Barack and a hard place. Hide their food stamps under their working boots.
