Charleston Harbor

Can anyone give me some advise on fishing in the harbor, what do you catch and where are the best places to try. I have seen reports about Ft. Sumpter, are there anyother locations.

I’ve heard anywhere up against the port terminal docks are great places to fish. It’s best to wrap a towel around your head in these areas because of all of the dust blowing around from the containers being unloaded.

Anywhere around castle Pinckney , the jetties and inside of crab bank are decent starting places. Good luck

In front of the rocks at Fort Johnson can be good at times as well.

And when you do this yell "La La La La" as loud as you can, it will attract the fish right to you.

But, seriously, don’t do any of this!

I’d recommend getting a TopSpot map and checking out all the spots marked on there, It’s not gonna tell you the exact dock piling the fish are stacked on etc but It will give you a great general idea about which areas to start working until you find the most productive spots and has a month by month calendar to show what should be biting where making it easy to hit multiple spots each trip if one spots slow. I’d imagine you would probably have a pretty fun day in that 19’ boat dropping cut mullet at the infamous “Grillage” or one of the nearshore reefs, Good luck!

No, don’t yell “La, La, La, La”, only the women yell that. I would recommend “ALLAHU AKBAR!”

A bit a caution with the top spot map… it shows a few spots to fish on the Cooper and Ashley that are now under realm of Homeland Security - and they will come and pay you a visit. Found that out last Sunday AM.

bump grillage is good as well as dynamite hole if you look on the resources part of this website you can get coord, plug em and go
