charleston hardware, wappoo road

what caused them to go out of business??
they seemed to survive lowes and HD, then changed hands ,and reduced the inventory.e

I heard that there was a death in the family, and that ultimately led to the closing of the store. It’s too bad, we used to go there on a regular basis.

worked there thru HS and some of college. The Crull family owned it originally and were great. They sold the store and almost immediately the place felt different. It died a slow death. Ronnie the old manager from the Crull days works at the True Value on JI. He knows everything about Hardware and fixing things around the house.

The old family hardware stores are almost non-existent anymore. My family was in the business in Beaufort for more than 50 years. I loved hanging out there, they had everything. They just got to the point where they could not compete with Lowes and Walmart.
