Three of us crazy kayakers decided to hop a ride to the Charleston Sixty! Two sharks (3’ and 4’) and this nice BSB for me…had to cut trip short when charter boat started having problems…
Got some footage too - will post a video soon…we had fun despite the boat problems. Good times on the water with good folks…
Awesome, so you guys finally went. I didn’t realize it was this past weekend. Too bad about the boat problems, is the captain going to cut you a break on the price, or give you some sort of discount? Let’s see the pics.
Nice, hope to see more mothership trips. Like Too Busy, I’d love to fight an amberjack from a yak, though I’d be aiming for grouper, vermillion snappers, dolphin and macs.
How deep was the water? Did you see alot of fish on the finder?
If people concentrated on the really important things in life, there’d be a shortage of fishing poles. ~Doug Larson
The C60 is 12 miles from the rock in 60’ of water. There are several pieces to the reef scattered over a relatively small area. I’ve never caught a grouper there, but have gotten plenty of bsb, some ringtails, and had stuff stolen by a cobia that was hanging out under the boat.

I was hoping for an AJ or something big for a sleigh-ride…I could occasionally see bait schools on the FF, and some bigger echoes near the bottom. I paddled around until I came upon good bottom readings, then dropped the bait. I finally was getting the hang of it when we had to cut it short…
I spearfished the 60 a few summers back. The bottom is old barges and it is loaded with gags down there. When i was topside the fishing was terrible, probably because those fish experience alot of pressure at the 60. Drop a live bait down and youll find something that will drag you around out there.
