Charleston this weekend

Headed down the Charleston way for a few days starting Wednesday. Planning to do some fishing. Don’t know anything about the area, but am bringing my boat(wide, flatbottom john boat). Anyone tell me where to go fishing? Will be near the Shem Creek area.

me again… would be happy to take someone with me that knows the area.

hey shem creek is a great area! get a hot spot map! go on the intercoastal waterway north of shem creek and troll the bank looking for schools of redfish. throw natural colored jerkshads on flutter hooks. on the hotspot maps look for places marked to fish near shem creek. hope this helps! any other questins?

Thanks for all of the help guys! Will take your advice. I will try to post next week to let you know how it went. One other question: does anyone know if I can use the small boat ramp near shem creek inn? I will be in town with my wife (poor thing, she has classes for a few days) It shure would make it simple if I could use the small ramp near that dive shop.

Do sure of that or the parking but across the street is the shemm creek landing with pretty good parking. Hit me on the cell 327 6995 and I will point you in the right direction.

make sure to fish the flats at low tide. it may be a bit of a haul in a joboat depending on your speed but i would fish the plum island flat. Its in the harbor a little bit past wappoo cut right in front of plum island. it’s a nice school, throw at diffferent oyster beds and yo’ll find fish

Not to be a jerk, but would it kill you to PM him this? I and im sure other members on the forum would appreciate it if you would stop posting spots on the open forum.

Pez! Not a good way to start out.Members here try and always help a rook out.No spots posted here that everyone has not already fished.

I didnt want that to come across as mean. Ive been lurking on here for months and this isnt the first time. I agree with you, none of them have been places that havent been fished before. But considering you dont have to be a member to view the forums theres no telling how many people can read this and go to that spot. Thats why many places are overfished. I have no problem with trying to help people out at all. But that spot could have been PMed to gummy instead of being posted on the open forum. Im sorry if my last post and this one came across as unkind, i didnt mean for them to be.

Did he give up your “secret” hole

Even IF EVERYBODY knows about a spot, EVERYBODY cannot possibly be there every hour of every day of every week. It doesn’t hurt to give up some of the more common spots that EVERYBODY already knows about. Just remember…EVERYBODY doesn’t include the rookies…yet. Give them a break dude…and a few spots. The more fishermen there are, the better it is for all of us.

you ever driven across the James Island Connector? there is NO secret to THAT spot…but just because people know it is there doesn’t mean they are all gonna fish it…I’ve seen hundreds of boats there over the years and I’ve never hit it…

EDIT: sorry, didn’t mean to pile on…just my thoughts…

I didn’t know about it…thanks!

Im not trying to give him a hard time. I live in sight of a spot I fished 2 years ago. Over the years, there has been a noticeable increase in the number of people fishing it making it to the point where it has gotten harder to catch fish. That is exactly what posting spots on the internet can do for you. Sure, it may not be my spot. Heck, ive never fished it either. But that doesnt mean that there arent other people that like to fish that spot on a regular basis.
