Looks like all had a great time. Congradulation

How long did it take to plan this trip out?

How do you work reservations and giving yourself a “weather window” in case it gets nasty? It’s a trip I hope to do one day.

That was really cool to see, thanks for posting

I’ve done it three times now. The first time was a LOT of planning and trying to make sure I knew as much as possible. Had a lot of help, the most being from someone from this site that ended up doing the trip at the same time. Once you do it you realize it’s not THAT crazy an undertaking. We’ve been lucky each time with weather. I’ll post up what I have sent to other people.

Make sure everyone going signs up so you will not have to go to a Customs office when you get back to the States. The Captain is the only one that needs to enter the boat info. Then you file a float plan on the site before leaving including your passengers SVRS #s. Everyone must setup an appointment…in Charleston it’s at the airport and doesn’t take long.

Bahama Customs:
The links below are to the two forms you will need to fill out: Bahamas_Custom_boat_Clearance.pdf & Bahamas-Custom-Immigration.pdf. Can get from either link. You can clear customs at Bimini Big Game Club.
Some good info on details and what you can bring here:
www.bahamas.gov

There is a customs office at Bimini Big Game on North Bimini…that is where we cleared and they didn’t even come to the boat…but they do sometimes. Some really good info on their website.

This is where we left our truck/trailer…it’s $10/night

There is cell service (it is considered international) there and most bars/restaurants have WiFi. I have Verizon and bought a $40 International plan that worked fine…we didn’t use phones much.

The link below has a lot of cool spots to hang out, snorkel, and dive. My favorites were:
Sapona – an old shipwreck in ~15’ of water
Honeymoon Harbor – Awesome beach and can hand feed the Rays
Bimini Road (Road to Atlantis)
I have found some really cool places by just cruising around…places with beautiful water and no one is there.

what an awesome place for a proposal

Probably around 200 Gallons total between crossing and running around every day. But we were always on the boat.

Looking on a site that posts current prices: looks like about $4.75/ gallon on average for gasoline. Maybe $4.25/ gallon for diesel.

that’s not as bad as i was expecting
