Charleston to Hilton Head

How long is the run from Charleston to Hilton Head? Couple of us thinking about leaving Charleston and running to Hilton head for the weekend and back. I am figuring 6 hour ish with no wakes ect. Got a couple boats going if anyone is interested. Probably stay in sea pines and dock at the yacht club. I’ve boated around Charleston a lot and Beaufort and Hilton head. Only boated in Edisto once so I don’t know a lot about the middle part of the run. Have made the run from iop to johns island a few times that is simple. I know the broad to Hilton head very well. Any advise on route or anything for the rest of the trip? Probably stop along the way for lunch and a few beverages.

Easy run inside. Follow the ICW. 4-5 hours. South of Edisto just before you cross St Helena sound is beautiful but gets narrow and shallow. Pay attention to your Gps and depth finder there. I’ve seen Port Royal Sound get sporty so be prepared to get your passengers off the bow a few minutes after Paris Island as a precaution. It’s a great trip!

If you take the ICW from Charleston City Marina to Ladys Island Bridge Beaufort it’s 72 miles. Then another 28 miles from Beaufort to Harbor Town HHI. Hope that’s helpful. Any Questions let me know.

Wife and I did Charleston to Beaufort in about 4-4.5 hours really taking our time in the IWC. Hilton head should be like 30 more minutes. Maybe an hour tops depending on where you’re headed in particular.

From Hwy 41 bridge to the south beach marina is about 4.5 at 30mph.

The one big slow down is the no wake through Beaufort. They have tons of signs from one bridge to the next saying heavy fines for any wake. It adds about 45 minutes to an otherwise quick trip.
