Charleston Water Keeper

Any of you look at this map before taking kids swimming in rivers etc… I sure do and It’s amazing how bad runoff after a few days of rain destroys the water quality. as of testing on the 19th all bacteria samples are awesome. Even where they test in the Ashley. However, when tested the 13th after that week long rain, it’s filthy. My wife just found this website last year. Overall, I think the water is better than years past since fertilizer use to seep into the Ashley and the Cooper saw raw sewage, but it seems it can still get pretty bad at times. Good news is, after a few tides, all seems good according to the samples taken. Its great work those people do and I for one appreciate it.

Thanks for sharing that.

Andrew and Charleston Waterkeeper do a great job, we are lucky to have them. They also do tons of marsh cleanups and have been key supporters to our Ashley river cleanup efforts
