I wanted to ask if anyone knows of a charter that specializes and is successful at targeting large sharks, specifically tiger or hammerheads in the Charleston area. If there is one outside of this area I would be interested in it too.
My daughter is an experienced fisher and has a couple of line class records for bonnetheads, but she wants to battle a big shark and see them up close. This would be catch and release. She is fascinated by sharks and plans to study marine biology with an emphasis on sharks.
Not positive but I think your not supposed to target tiger sharks, but plenty of big sharks out there to test someone’s strength and stamina especially when you get them in deep water even when they stop fighting you have to reel in there weight against the water which is tuff.
Tiger sharks are perfectly legal to target. In Federal water they require an HMS permit. State water not. You can keep 1 per day, 52" FL, per vessel. Most people fishing for them tag and release. There is one fellow who sometimes posts on here that fishes for tigers in Port Royal and put’s satellite tracking thingys on them. He catches some HUGE one’s!! I forget his name. Somebody help me out.
Not Hammerheads or Tiger but there are some 10ft plus sharks to be caught in Charleston Harbor. Contact Jeremy Espirutu at shallowthoughts charters. Tell him you want to target big sharks and he can most likely get you hooked up. 843-509-4751

Down here is where a signature goes but they can confuse and anger some people so I don’t have one.
Stanwarren and Iggy are the guys I’d be contacting if Larrys guy doesn’t pull through. I haven’t heard of many hammers around here but the requiem guys have caught a bunch of tigers the last couple seasons.

Just talked to my partner Dan and we can take you if the other guys don’t pull through. I’d say go with Stan or Iggy if they’ll do it but if not we can do it for you. The requiem guys would definitely be my first pick though. We fish a 26 foot dusky, pm me if your interested.

We saw several very big Hammerheads on the surface Wednesday offshore…I wouldn’t want anything to do with that. Good luck; that’s fantastic your daughter is interested in chasing such giant fish at such an early age.
Wouldn’t it be great if fishing was like ordering from a menu? I wan’t to catch this and that, but not the other. I had someone a while back who said they wanted to go catch a slam first, then after that they were open to suggestions…

Couple of our larger tigers last year.
