Good morning. I am hoping you can answer this for me. I have a Lowrance 4 HDI fishing/chart/GPS unit. This is the smaller (tall) unit as my boat is small.

I was fishing in a nice sized river off the ICW and it wasn’t on the map. Really nice sized. Maybe 100’ or greater in width.
So…this has its standard SD card with charts. IS THERE an upgrade that actually has better, more defined maps and bottom topography?
Or…is there something for the iphone to download that has these same upgraded depths?
Thank you
Shane
Check out the Navionics+ card. It has Coastal and Lakes for the entire US & Canada. www.navionics.com or I think they carry them at West Marine
Yes, definitely check out the Navionics+ chart card. It’s going to be the best card you can run on the Elite units. I personally run one of those cards in my setup. You will get all your lakes and coastal charts for the US and CAN all on one card. You will aslo have the Sonar Charts (1ft HD contours fishing charts) as well. The tight contour lines you will get on the sonar charts will depict your drastic changes in depth. These will be your fish (both bait and predator) highways I will post a screenshot of the sonar charts below. Great stuff. It will be a Huge upgrage and You will love it.

Navionics Gold (which has been discontined) was a par better than the base map loaded on most machines. Navionics+ is better than Gold. However, I have noted some old data as to buoy locations with Navionics+.
However you can upgrade thru the website. You can update thru the website with most current navigation & sonar charts, but YOU WILL LOSE data to a smaller area when updating (the Navionics card is only so big in GB capacity & is copyrighted so you can’t go out to Walmart & use a 32GB card).
You can pay for Navionics Platium for best detail. Big $$$
