Bought a new Lowrance Elite 7. Lowrance and navionics charts loaded from factory. They are poor at best. Anyone loaded any other charts via chips or down loads? The old chip in my last unit is better and it is 6 years old. Tempted to just stick it in the new one and see if it gives better clarity in the smaller creeks. Really like the downscan dual transducer, have good bottom running 45 mph but creeks suck.
You should see if someone can show you different charts. I use Navionics, not totally thrilled about it but they do provide me with the detail I need to get around and fish. I have the $99 Marine and Lakes for SC. You might be stuck with the two choices you have other than upgrading to the Gold/Platinum version of Navionics. Some of the boat shows allow you to see these on Lowrance units. Also, call their tech support and see what they say.
