Chas KF classic question?

I heard from a guy at the marina yesterday that one of the top five fish (I think it was 3rd or 4th) was caught in Cape Canaveral. He said it was a 36’ yellowfin and they left CC at 11 and made it up by 5’o clock.

Is it just me or does that seem a little crazy? Talk about making it tough on the little guy, that makes it seem almost impossible for a 23class boat to win an event if the big 36’ers can bring up fish from Fla. I know we have our own class for 23 and under, but its usually less $$'s. I’m starting to think that SKA events need boundaries.

What do yall think?

If that tourney would have had boundries, it would have probably only had 100-120 boats fishing. Then people get upset about the payouts being low. It’s a no-win situation.

The 36 foot/triple motor boats are going to have an advantage regardless of the situation. The third place boat was about 35+ miles from the jetties at 4:15 and still made checkin. Boundries would not have made a difference in that situation. But your boat would not have been able to make that run.

The beauty of the big boats is they feel that they have to make those crazy long runs. Then the small boats sit at the jetties and catch the winning fish!

Isn’t there usually a 23’ and under class for which they don’t qualify?</font id=“blue”>

The disadvantage is on long runs your limited to less fishing time.
Weather,weather,weather.
The advantage is close to home you can get about an hour to hour&half more fishing time.

Fishing golden Isle in saint simons Ga. this weekend.
There is about 35 of us making the run to canaveral and back 182 NM one way.

it’s just a roll of the dice, if you don’t catch a fish that places you get the alternative, a BIG gas bill.
