Since I can’t get down to chase some reds on the flats, I decided to chase a few on the river. Went up for a few hours saturday. Got there around noon and fished till 3. Got really cold once the sun sank behind mountains so didn’t stay to long. Managed 5 rainbows, no size, all around 12". Water was clear and a bit nippy. Should pick up in a few more weeks.

I got started throwing the long rod on a few streams around Chattooga 20+ years ago. Amazing place to grow up. I would love to make the switch, but am limited to saltwater trips every few months living in G-ville. Oh… caught them on a little modified BH midge. I can’t tie worth a darn, but the fish don’t seem to mind.
hittin the tiny stuff huh well i cant wait till it gets warm and i can get a few people to head up there and get on good dry fly bite last time i went we had a small caddiss hatch around 1 and spent all afternoon catchin 8-15 inch browns on caddises was a great day
i grew up around charleston and started fly fishing when we use to go campin up there cause that how everyone caught the wild fish and i wanted to catch somethin other than stocked rainbows but now ive gotten to where i long rod almost everything freshwater best especially most recentlly the shad run like catching tarpon on a 3wt its a blast

There was a small hatch Saturday. Very few on top though. Shad you say… I’ve heard of it but never tried it. Sounds like fun.
