I actually saw this happen about 30 yrs. ago while fishing out of Jack’s Creek landing on Lake Marion. This jon boat was riding extremely low in the water and upon closer inspection we saw that the trailer was still attached to the boat. Go figure!

I worked for a boat dealer in Seneca, SC during my college days at Clemson. I actually saw the same thing happen. We had a family that we just sold a boat to the day before. It was a 19’ Bryant runabout with a 5.0 mercruiser I/O. I had less than 24 hours before demoed the boat with them. We got a call around noon on Saturday morning that there was an issue with their new boat. The owner said it would not go when he tried to take off. Ok, we’ll send a guy out and take a look at it. I was sent out to the boat ramp, where I see the boat tied up to the dock, trailer still attatched to the bow eye. The guy actually thought he could just unhook the coupler and drive the boat with the trailer still attatched. The stupidest thing was, it never even occurred to him that he was the only moron that was doing it this way…
It took some real thought to get that trailer off the ramp, also. I had to back the longbed F250 company truck all the way in the water until the tailgate was under water in order to book the coupler back up under water. It was actually pretty dangerous.
