Chella 5-16 Family day

Miraculously was able to get two kids and my pregnant wife up and moving thirty minutes after the alarms went off. Headed out around 5:30 ish to the 226 hole. Lines in at 200’ (77degrees) and trolled the rest of the way. Dolphin hit almost immediately on blue and white little islander. Trolled out to 450 and picked up a few more. Grilled burgers for lunch and slowly trolled in. Hit a big pack (12 plus) of slinger bull dolphin at 180’ only kept a few and released a couple more. Only ran four lines with no dredge or deep gear since I was the driver, rigger, deck hand, cook, etc. Kept 7 dolphin with one around 24lbs. Not a banner offshore day but an excellent easy fishing and memorable day with the family.

Sounds like a good day! I’m pretty impressed you were able to grill while still running everything else.

Also, I’m sure it was nice to get to include the whole family - that’s definitely something that I look forward to being able to do one day.

We dropped back to a slow idle into the wind to grill. Let the lines go slack and had a dolphin take a third of one of the hoos. I didnt have a plug rod ready so we missed it. Amazing how big a little boys eyes can get when you have a fish flopping around the back of the boat. Wish I had thought to take more pictures… next time!
