Chesapeake Bay - Pro-Am Tournament

:sunglasses: Went up to Solomons, MD on 2 May to fish the Rod-n-Reel Pro-Am Striper tournament and the Maryland Saltwater Sportfisherman’s Association Striper tourney which was at the exact same time. Charter the Margie D with Captain Bernie Dove, and caught a ton of stipers both Friday and Saturday. We were trolling the middle bay with bucktails and large sassy shads. Biggest fish was 46", next was 42". We had at least 40 other fish that we released, only keeping 4 fish per day. This year, the fish had to be 31" or smaller, or over 41". Lots of fish were in that slot, i.e. between 31 and 41 inches. We finished in the money</font id=“limegreen”> in both tournaments.

I’ve heard they are really starting to bite from some of the reports coming from up there. I also saw that somebody caught a 50" red already up there this year off Long Bay Pointe.

Glad you had a good time.

Man I can’t wait to get back to saltwater fishing. Course I’ll be chasing wild browns in the mountains again this weekend…darn.
