Eating there for lunch. Four people on counter taking orders,
4 people working drive thru. Every person hustling and moving with a purpose. Guess this is why they continue to destroy the competition. I bet the others have 2 at most in the counter and one at the drive thru
I used to be an assistant manager at a Chick-Fil-A, and the ONLY reason I left it (at the time) was because I was a newlywed, and got sick of working nights lol.
I have only good things to say about the company. They invest in their employees, train them in ways that will serve them beyond working at a quick service restaurant, and just make good eatins.
Our store was like most others— they put a TON of planning and foresight into the lunch and dinner rushes. We planned the whole day around them, and staffed accordingly. One of the worst days of my life was when we lost BOTH of our waffle fry machines (one was already down, work order scheduled, and the second one blew). So we had to use one of the Henny fryers (normally used for chicken) for waffle fries. We had turned the temp up to 350/360 (the waffle fry temp), and the higher temp cooked the thermostat. So, suddenly we had gone from 5 fryers down to 2, and it was a Friday lunch rush, with absolutely no hope for anything better during the dinner evening rush.
To say the least, i was glad to lock the doors that night. But lots of great memories working there.

I love Chik-o-lay as my oldest called it when he was little. Just wish it cost a little less. My kids suck so much food down now I have to float a loan to go out.

Chic-fil-a is a top notch company. I have had the privilege of meeting Truett Cathy a few times and he is a wonderful individual. He owns a ranch in my home town for orphans and used to send us free sandwich coupons to school with the kids. I’m not talking two or three but like 25 or 30 for each person. Back when i was in high school in the late 90’s he still lived in the house he had before he started the company. Hell, he may still live there. I know if i had that much flow id be in a mansion, but he is not that type of guy. The man has donated so much cash to charity, supplied a great home environment for many children and helped so many communities across GA and AL that I support his company at least once a week. Doesnt hurt that the food is delicious and the service is second to none in the ff industry. You pull into any store any where and it is just as Apickett described.

Chick-fil-a has by far the best customer service of any fast food restaurant in my opinion

I do a good bit of lean manufacturing consulting to my supply base, so I get to walk through a bunch of different manufacturing facilities. Most trips are between 2 and 4 days and I almost always use a Hardee’s Chick-Fil;A analogy when I talk to managers and staff about their plants.
Everyone is familiar with both fast food joints, so I ask three questions.
"Have you ever been to a clean Hardee’s?
“Have you ever been to a dirty Chick-Fil-A?”
“They hire from the same labor pool and pay the same wages, so what’s the difference?”
It’s gotten me tossed out of a couple of plants… guess the truth hurts

Chick-fil-a / Ace Hardware / Publix / You just can’t go wrong with good customer service.
Seems more of a sign of the times in most other fast food joints. The employees just don’t care about the customer. Coming home the other night a little late and starving, stopped at the Hardee’s in Ravenel @ 165 and 17. After getting extremely frustrated left and made a promise I’ll never go there again.
Truett just turned the company over to his son he is a very dedicated Christian. Even better he is a Ford collector.
back in high school i used to work at taco bell and although i always did what i could for customers theres plenty of people im glad i no longer work with! chick-fil-a on the other hand whether its down south or in the 0 degree north ive NEVER had bad service there. i dont usually eat much fast food but chick-fil-a has to be one of my favorites.
one problem with chic fil a is like Yogi berra said :
nobody goes there anymore, its too crowded.
the one in mt Plastic near post office is crowded .
yes, it does seem expensive too.
but at mc donalds the employees seem pixxed that they are working there.
the bowman road mc donalds used to be the worst in chas, I have not been in there in 5 years.
and the hardees at 17 in ravenel has been bad long time also went to disnet 5 years ago and waited forever mid afternoon, never been back there either.
my opinion is some of the franchises make so much money the owner is NEVER there, as long as it makes money he does not care.
Gotta agree with the CFA service, top notch. Is it the people they hire or the training they get? I went to the Burger King on 17 near Town Center a while back and couldn’t believe how poor the service was.
My other favorite is Jimmy Johns. Yeh, it’s a pricey samich, but fast and good (I actually looked into the JJ franchise opps before moving here but someone beat me too it).

One morning, years ago, I went into the Coleman Burger King for breakfast, again, went in not the drive through. The lady taking the orders had some ridiculous looking hair do that I know DHEC would not have appreciated, her shirt was partially tucked in and just looked disheveled and she had an expression on her face like she was angry at the world. I had been there many mornings. They were barely able to microwave my frozen cr-ass-sand-witch for me. (LOL)
There ways a uppity stuck-up lady berating the employee that just messed up her order. I told the lady “Why are you yelling at her, look at her, clearly this woman is doing the best she can do. I’m not saying she’s doing a good job, by any means, but she is doing the best she can do.”
The lady taking orders, to my surprise, understood what I meant and gave me a very dirty look. As I do not like other people saliva, I turned around and walked out. The lady followed right behind me. Within a month that Burger King closed, despite the excellent location.

CFA and all the others hire from the same labor pool. They pay basically the same wages. The difference is in the owners and management. They just don’t tolerate poor customer service.
Employees do get very good training and they get coaching on things they are doing right and things they are doing wrong.
Bottom line (and the reason my analogy has gotten me tossed out of a few plants) if it’sa crappy business, it’s almost always management’s fault. They ALLOW poor service, dirty dining room, surly employees, poor quality, name the problem… management allows it.
Boat drinks, Waitress I need 2 more boat drinks!
The same can be said for Lowes. There are some in Columbia that just seem to be run well, clean, organized, never out of stock and others…well, you get it. As Tommy said, it all begins and ends with management.

yes Lowes and HD in Greenville are much cleaner than the ones in mt pleasant (lowes in mt Pleasant)

And Hardee’s up north are much cleaner than the ones around here - BK seems to be better staffed as well. Chik-fil-a aside, fast food in Charleston seems to be worse than many other places.
But the supermarkets are 10x better here/in the south. Teeter and Publix customer service is off the charts compaired to what I am used to from Acme or Pathmark…
