Chris V Re: Scout leak

I have a 2002 Scout 175. Somehow I’m getting water in bilge. Its a slow leak. I have filled bilge while boat is on trailer with no visible leak out. So where is water coming from? Live well?

Check all thru hull fittings and hoses to/from live wells ; on board coolers ; ect ; ect … hoses themselves for fatigue or freeze cracks not nesasarly at the fittings… I always blow out all hoses as part of winterizing…

When you see “Old Glory” waving in the breeze, know that it is the dying breaths of our fallen hero’s that makes it wave.

Check that the top of the live well is totally sealed

Tux… sounds like you may have seen this before?

Yep top of the livewell.Have had that issue on 2 boats

i have seen the bilge pump outlet allow water in during certain conditions.
the rub rail to hull seal
the livewell
thru hull fittings
transom motor bolts
and worst of all stress fractures in the hull

IF I RESPOND IN ALL CAPS, ITS NOT ON PURPOSE, AND I AM NOT YELLING

Rod holder caps off? Rain will get in there

Check the self draining plugs in the rear. I have a 172 dorado that would slowly let water through the above deck drain holes (when they would dip below waterline if people were standing in back of boat) this water would then flow into the ski locker. Took me months of trial and error to identify it. Its a slow but consistent leak if the boat is weighted down. DM if you want to discuss further.

Vallottonw2 I keep plugs in self bailing fittings. Thanks. I’m going to check bilge drain, live well seal, etc.

What Gail Winds said… I have had that same issue
