The relationship between trout and reds is very interesting. Trout populations are affected by the winter water temp; more trout with warmer temperatures. In turn, the red drum population is affected by the trout population. I am guessing the link between red population declining during periods of high occurences of trout is predation on the fry and fingerlings.
