This is something I have thought of a few times and I am sure plenty of people have tried.
How would it work to set a basket/container/stocking of fish food/dog food/etc. for a day or two and then come back and fish around it. If there were bream in the area would they come along with the horde of other species? Turtle or alligator just tear it up before any good would come of it?
Find a dead coon or opossum and hang it from a branch that sticks out over the water. Come back in a few days and catch all the bream you want.
Lol that’s actually a pretty cool idea.
I have a friend in the upstate with a large pond in his back yard and a pier that goes out about 50 feet. He mounted bug zappers (with the bottom trays cut out) over the water. At night, he can fill the bucket with bluegill lol, and he literally uses a scrap of ■■■■■■■ (salted pork) on a #6 hook. The ■■■■■■■ doesn’t come off, is stark white, and the salty flavor is irresistible when the fish are gathered around.

The only chuming I’ve ever done was with dad and if he was able would find a few wasp nests. Crush a couple up and throw them in the water and then us the larvae from the others to bait his hook. Very soft and hard to use, but if there are bream around, probably the best bait I’ve ever used. I don’t chum with one but if the fish won’t bite on worms or crickets seldom have the little white wasp larvae failed.
Also if your fishing and see a couple of big wasp nest hanging over the water that generally is a decent spot to fish for bream.
don’t know if I’d care to fish over a dead possum!!! But i guess the maggots would draw in fish…
Someone talked me into throwing two cans of dog food with ice pick holes in it off the dock once. I had every cooter and gar in the county off the dock. Stayed screwed up for 2 weeks.
