chumming for Reds?

Went out with a guide in FL and caught a bunch of Mackeral. He helped bring them in by cutting up a bunch of pinfish and minnows. Does anyone do this for trout and redfish in Chucktown? is it legal?

Yes, def… Reds are about 75% smell bite (they cant see worth a ****, unlike trout) where as trout are more of a visual bite, and less smell. Reds vision isnt great so they rely heavily on their sense of smell. By chumming, IMO, you are making it easier for the reds to find your bait.

I agree. when I lived in FL, we would regularly catch extra bait for chumming. We would cut a few and take a hand full and squeeze them to stun/disable them, and throw 5 or 10 out around where we were casting. Worked like a charm.
